Hello, my dearest readers!  In this blog I’d like to share with you about Toru Dutt , a remarkable Indian writer, poet, and translator.  Toru Dutt [1856 - 1877] Born in Calcutta (now Kolkata) in 1856, she was a literary prodigy who sadly passed away at the young age of 21, 1877. Despite her short life, her contributions to Indian literature written in English are considered profoundly important. She was a true multilingual talent, fluent in Bengali, English, and French, and she often translated works between these languages.  Some of her key works include:  A Sheaf Gleaned in French Fields (a collection of her translations of French poems) and her unfinished novel, Bian ca, or The Young Spanish Maiden .
